The journey of "Break the Silence" began in 2018, an initiative born out of a profound desire to transform personal tragedy into a beacon of hope and positive change. The genesis of this annual fundraiser was rooted in the mission to honor a beloved father's memory while simultaneously rewriting the narrative of his legacy. In 1993, the landscape surrounding mental health support was vastly different, leaving many feeling isolated and without the resources needed for healing.

The inception of "Break the Silence" aimed to defy the silence that surrounded mental health struggles, particularly in the aftermath of our father's tragic passing by suicide. Our collective vision was to create an environment of acceptance, compassion, and service, ensuring that no one should endure the challenges we faced without access to the vital support and understanding necessary for recovery. Each year, as we engage in this endeavor, it is a pledge to change the narrative surrounding mental health, to replace the stigma with conversations of hope, acceptance, and community support.

As we navigate the journey of "Break the Silence," we remain steadfast in our commitment to breaking down the barriers that hindered our family in 1993. The hope is that through our collective efforts, we can provide the support and resources that were lacking then, fostering a community where individuals facing mental health challenges know that they are not alone, and help is readily available. In honoring our father's memory, we strive to create a legacy defined by compassion, understanding, and the unwavering belief that, together, we can break the silence surrounding mental health.
